But will it work for Android?
iPad 2, the ace of iOS based tablets by Apple Inc entered the tablet race in 2011, and is quickly taking the lead and will likely sell far better than its predecessor.Apple delivered between 2.4-2.6 million units in March. Based on a conservative estimate, Apple is likely to deliver 4-4.3 million units a month, or a total of over 12 million units in the second quarter. [2] On the other hand, the flagship Android based tablet, Motorola Xoom hardly stands a chance against iPad 2 due to its poor sales performance. While Motorola did not release sales figures, by early April 2011 the Xoom was estimated by Deutsche Bank analysts to have sold only about 100,000 units, compared to first-day sales of the iPad at 300,000 units. [4]
The question for you though is are you tablet ready? This new onslaught of users will be expecting amazing video, applicatios and mobile experiences optimized for their devices. As you plan your 2011/2012 development budgets, don’t forget about Tablets!
